Donald Tusk spoke with Apple executives about the future of technology and the market

Apple leadership change after 15 years

After 15 years at the helm of Apple, Tim Cook will step down as chief executive. He will be succeeded by John Ternus, the current vice president in charge of hardware engineering. This marks an important change at one of the world’s biggest technology companies.

The company said the handover will be gradual. Cook is expected to remain on as CEO through the summer and will work closely with Ternus to ensure a smooth transition.

Cook is not leaving the company entirely. He will remain involved with Apple as chairman of the board.

The outgoing chief said leading the company had been the greatest privilege of his life. He also praised his successor, pointing to his technical background and leadership qualities.

John Ternus has worked at Apple since 2001 and over the years has been responsible for the development of key hardware products. After taking on the new role, he will become the company’s 8th chief executive. This is the first change in Apple’s CEO position since 2011, when Cook took over from Steve Jobs.
