The pound strengthens to a 2-year high, while the euro slips slightly to 4.36 zł

The euro and dollar are slightly cheaper, while the pound is near its highest level in almost two years

In the morning, the zloty strengthened only slightly, but for people exchanging larger amounts, the change matters. The euro exchange rate stood at 4,3641 zł, so for 1000 zł you could buy about 229 euros. That is a level close to 4,36 zł, with no major move away from yesterday’s reading.

In practice, when exchanging 5000 zł, a difference of just a few grosz per euro can already shift the result by several złoty. Here, however, the move is small, as the euro was only marginally cheaper than the day before. On Wednesday, the rate first rose to 4,378 zł and then fell by almost two grosz.

In the market, a cautious stance toward the zloty still dominates. Analysts at PKO BP point out that in the coming days they do not expect a lasting decline in EURPLN and USDPLN below 4,36 and 3,86, respectively. In their view, the same factors are still weighing on the zloty: inflation pressure, the caution of the Monetary Policy Council, a weaker balance of payments and the difficult state of public finances.

On the EUR/USD pair, the rate held above 1,12, which translated into a dollar at 3,8884 zł. For 1000 zł, you could therefore buy just over 257 dollars. On a daily basis, this looks more like stabilization than a sharp move, as the dollar has stopped rising clearly against the zloty over the past week.

The British pound exchange rate stood out the most in the morning, at 5,2046 zł. Earlier, it had even reached 5,2079 zł and was at its highest since November 2024. For 1000 zł, you could buy about 192 pounds, clearly less than with the euro or dollar. The Swiss franc cost 4,7135 zł and was only 0,2 grosz more expensive than the day before.
